Special Surprise for Mothers to Celebrate Mother's Day & Women's Appreciation at Vista Del Robles Apartments

WOODLAND, CA - Women residents—especially the mothers—of Vista Del Robles Apartments were honored and pampered with complimentary professional haircuts in celeberation of Mother's Day and Women's Appreciation as part of the resident services program available to the residents. This momentous event was the result of the collaborative planning between PSCDC Resident Services Coordinator Genesis Barreno and Art and Hair and Makeup Lounge, a local salon committed to community outreach.

For Genesis, this was a special opportunity to build connections, uplift, and value the women in at Vista Del Robles Apartments. "Mother's Day is a special time to honor and celebrate the strength, love, and resilience of mothers, especially those in our affordable housing community who often juggle so much with limited resources," remarked Genesis. "I wanted to create a moment where they could feel pampered, appreciated, and seen."

Residents were required to RSVP in advance to secure haircut appointments due to limited walk-in availability. Each participant received a complimentary professional haircut along with a gift bag to take home! Attendees were ecstatic with their new looks, and expressed appreciation for the thoughtful event and personalized experience.

As an added surprise, Art, the salon owner, hosted three raffles during the event! One lucky winner received a free makeup session to be redeemed at their salon. Two additional winners received a beautifully arranged gift basket. The raffles added extra excitement, gratitude, and smiles to the special occasion.

"One moment that really stuck with me was seeing one of my residents tear up after getting her haircut," reminisced Genesis. "She said it had been a while since she felt that special. That's why we did this. Creating a space where these women felt seen, loved, and deserving of care made all the planning worth it. It reminded me how powerful small acts of kindness can be."

Genesis, PSCDC, and our Vista Del Robles Apartments residents would like to give Art and the entire Art Hair and Makeup Lounge team a heartfelt thank you for giving their time, kindness, and expertise to our community.

In the future, Genesis and Art Hair and Makeup Lounge are planning another free haircut event for the back-to-school season, aimed at supporting students in the community.

"We know how important it is for kids to feel confident and ready as they head into a new school year, and something as simple as a fresh haircut can make a big difference," said Genesis. "Our goal is to ease the financial burden for families while giving a little boost in self-esteem. We're excited to continue building partnerships and creating moments that directly support the Vista Del Robles Apartments community in meaningful ways."
