IMPERIAL, CA – Last month, PSCDC volunteers were celebrated, thanked, and recognized for their selfless work in assisting our monthly food distributions across the Imperial Valley. Volunteers, and the help that they provide, have become a cornerstone for the wide variety of community services PSCDC provides. Without them, our impact and reach would not be as effective.
"Volunteers play a very important and vital role that greatly contributes to the success of our Resident Services Program at all our properties in Imperial Valley and in San Diego County," remarked Juan Arroyo, PSCDC's Executive Vice President. "They help with our ongoing food distributions, health and wellness fairs, and community building events. Every year we honor their commitment and dedication!"
July was another active month for our coordinators and volunteers. Our service impacted 926 families and 2,319 people. Out of about 55 active volunteers throughout Imperial Valley, about 35 volunteers attended the event.
On July 17, Luz Vallejo, Director of Services in Imperial Valley, and the PSCDC Imperial team prepared a delicious meal including barbacoa, beans, rice, and pasta salad along with a variety of aguas frescas for refreshments. A celebratory cake was also served to sweeten the occasion!
A special guest even stopped by to give their thanks! Alba Sanchez, Program Coordinator from the Imperial Valley Food Bank, attended and gave a heartfelt speech thanking the volunteers for their commitment and reminding them that their volunteer work is invaluable and that without their support, serving the number of individuals would not be possible.
Each volunteer received a T-shirt featuring a message about the power of volunteering as a special appreciation gift.
The atmosphere during the event was joyful and celebratory, with the Imperial Valley team making sure each volunteer felt honored and appreciated. It was a great event that successfully recognized the heart and effort of our volunteer community.
"What I enjoyed the most about the event is how happy the volunteers were and how much they enjoyed themselves," shared PSCDC Coordinator Veronica Iribe. "I want to thank them and let them know how much we appreciated them. Without them it would be near impossible to serve our community at such a high level."
