The Bike Doc Came For A Checkup At Willow Glen Apartments
On November 14th, Willow Glen Apartments in Sacramento were finally able to hold their annual Bike Doc event. Bike Doc is a city sponsored event that provides Sacramento residents with free bike repair by a group of experienced technicians. Willow Glen residents were able to bring their bikes in to be serviced so that they can continue to use them for fun and exercise. The Bike Doc event had to be rescheduled twice due to the fires in California which caused very poor air quality in the area, but our residents are thankful that the event happened this year as well.
This year, things were different due to the precautions that needed to be put in place to keep everyone safe. Reservations had to be made online prior to the event day and each client was assigned a specific time to bring their bike down to the designated area for repairs to avoid a gathering of people. Masks were also required to wear, with residents who were waiting to be served observing social distancing by keeping at least six fee apart.
The event was successful because it ran very smoothly. Approximately 40 bikes were serviced by the Bike Doc volunteers. Services included tire and tube repair or replacement, chain cleaning, greasing and repositioning, adjustment of brakes, seats, and handlebars, and even basket installation! PSCDC greatly appreciates the Bike Doc mechanics and North Natomas Jibe for continuing their popular annual event for our Sacramento residents.
